Skandamata is the fifth of the nine forms of Durga: Parvati as the mother of Skanda, the warrior god also known as Kartikeya and Murugan. Her name means just that, mother of Skanda. She is worshipped on the fifth night of Navratri, and this is our keychain for that night.
She sits on a lotus seat above her lion, as her verse says, with a lotus raised in each upper hand. Baby Skanda sits on her lap with all six of his heads, and her other hand is raised to say "fear not". Her sari is yellow, the colour of night five of Navratri 2026.
She is part of our Navadurga series: one devi for each night of Navratri.
